Relaxing as medicine

The importance of relaxing on a daily basis is often underestimated. We are always busy and prefer to spend our time working on our to do list instead of just doing nothing. Yet relaxing every day and sleeping well are essential for our physical and mental health.

Over 30 percent of the Dutch population feels exhausted. Work related stress is an occupational disease number 1. Some 1.3 million working Dutch have burnout symptoms. Anxiety, depression and insomnia are common.

Chronic stress, depression and poor sleep are major causes for various physical symptoms and hormonal and chemical disbalances in the body. They can also cause chronic diseases such as obesity, type II diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol, heart failure and depression. Prolonged mental and emotional disbalance can impair permanent damage to the brains making thinking, remembering and effectively handling emotions become more difficult.

Relaxing every day, effectively coping with stress, and sleeping well ensure we can recover and recharge mentally and emotionally.

Relaxing on a daily basis reduces physical symptoms such as muscle tension, and gastrointestinal symptoms and improves various physical processes. It reduces the risk of chronic diseases, keeps the brains healthy and contributes to Healthy Ageing by slowing down the process of ageing.*

Lifestyle coaching focusses on identifying and breaking these patterns and learning new more healthy ones.
